A YEAR IN THE LIFE OF A TREE

I’ve been desperate for some respite from the wildfire devastation and looming threat of war that’s been playing across my screen each day, and 20 minutes ago it appeared: a video that showcases one year in the life of a single tree–through the change of seasons and the many woodland inhabitants that stop by for a spell–to itch, pee, or gather their wits. And of course I was taken by the song which accompanies it, “Have You Ever,” a cover of a Brandi Carlile tune. Sit back and take a watch of some forest magic; then have a listen to Brandi yodeling away. I smiled so big while watching, and the music is balm to my heart. I hope it does the same for you…

Have you ever wandered lonely through the woods?
And everything there feels just as it should
You’re part of the life there
You’re part of something good
If you’ve ever wandered lonely through the woods
If you’ve ever wandered lonely through the woods

Have you ever stared into a starry sky?
Lying on your back you’re asking why
What’s the purpose I wonder who am I
If you’ve ever stared into a starry sky
Have you ever stared into a starry sky

Have you ever been out walking in the snow?
Tried to get back to where you were before
You always end up not knowing where to go
If you’ve ever been out walking in the snow
If you’d ever been out walking you would know
